19 : Epic.

I have been spending this so-called lazy Sunday going through my vast array of junk stowed in each and every corner of my apartment in order to really bring into fruition the whole 'clear my house/clear my head' philosophy. In doing that I've come across my DayPlanner which apart from a scribble here and there over the past week and a half is mostly blank. I've been sick and so I've been taking it easy so to speak in order to try and regain the strength that is required to complete the tasks I have managed in the past.

Now, several months ago a dear boy I was dating at the time and I wondered into a book shop and started glancing at the Little Miss & Mr. Men books.
"Haha - Mr. Messy - Oh, look" I said, "It's you". I was only playfully taunting and he was well aware of this fact. He laughed it off, took it as a compliment and went back to looking through the racks of stereotypes locked in by a two dimensional drawing and a few pages of storyline.
He started laughing before long. But not the general hearty laugh of a person who has found something of genuine good knee slapping humour, rather the laugh produced by one when they know they are right. A real cruel type of giggle, if you ask me.
"Oh. My. God. I found your book" he said with a smile bursting across his face so wide I thought any moment his cheeks were sure to pop open.
"No way" I said - as I am clearly much too complicated and refined as a person to be able to shove into one stereotype children's book. He picked up the book and flashed it at me 'Little Miss Busy". I pretend not to pay much attention to what he was showing me so as not to feed that smile of his. But the words may as well have had some sort of power generator and neon lights behind them "LITTLE MISS BUSY" flashed on and off again in my mind for the rest of the day. Even though whilst in the store I refused to look at the book and then even got a little sooky and sulked off with an excuse to get coffee when he tried to start reading it.
Later he came up and kissed my ear and whispered he was sorry. Sorry for what? Sorry that I'm a nunce of a girlfriend and that I was offended by something that I had just done to him? Boys can be sweet but girls sure are fucking crazy.
He needn't be sorry - it wasn't his fault the past few hours had been consumed by what lie in the pages of that book.
The next morning he crawled out of bed and got ready for work, kissing me on the cheek as he exited. Almost before the door was closed behind me, I was in the shower. I HAD to know what that book said.
I raced downstairs, over the road, passing the cafes with their delicious scent of aromas wafting past my nose as I approached. God knows how I was so focused as to miss the delicious scent of an artifical high. I quickly bought the book, and a copy of Mr. Messy for him too - just to throw off any sneaking suspicion that the girl behind the counter might have had about my reasoning behind needing this book so badly.
I came back to my house, via the cafe of course and locked myself inside and sat down to read. I read through the pages quickly. I'm not Little Miss Busy. I said to myself. I'm hardly busy. I sleep most every chance that I get. I don't work whenever I can help myself, and even regularly I don't work long hours. I don't get calmed by the soothing touch of a complete to-do list. I don't make lists about everything either. I don'--- wait, I'm making a list now. Shit. I was this Miss. Busy character. In every way and whilst you might see it as a good thing. I was quite clearly able to see the negative aspects as I do with most character traits people list of mine.
I had been so busy with what I deemed important that I had never stopped to smell the roses that I'd worked so hard sourcing from a small independent grocer known for his diligent farming of said roses, and watering them only with holy water blessed by the pope himself.
I had locked myself off to people; no time for anyone if they weren't on a list prepared earlier. There was a stage in my life - I'll come clean and admit this now, that I would actually have my very own anxiety attack if I lost one of my daily to do lists. If I couldn't get everything done in the lists I had written for the day, my life felt like it was unreeling from the spindle right before my very own eyes.
Today as I am sitting on my bed though, I'm staring in disbelief at how very empty the past week of my day-planner has looked compared to the last nineteen weeks of my life. In fact, it is only now that I've really looked over my day-planner once since the start of the year, even though we are onto our fifth month.
Today is the first time it has really hit me that being just like the character in that picture book has not at all been a bad thing. I have had the most amazing, life changing times in the past nineteen weeks and it's only about to get more hectic. But if it weren't for the personality traits that make me similar to Little Miss Busy, I think I'd have missed each and every opportunity that I've made possible.
In summary, I've decided that being the human version of a cartoon with ginger hair and huge coke bottle glasses (okay, maybe not so similar in the looks department) is not such a bad thing, and just like the character herself I am going to make a list, of highlights from my DayPlanner entries over the last nineteen weeks just to show you how crazy life has been and well, I'm proud so I'm rubbing noses in it I guess. Nothing has been altered, just putting in my favourite little notes from those weeks.
