I'm a fiend for Peep Show lately. I've floored through like 4 seasons in the past few days (found it all on youtube - Australia only has season 1 on DVD so far - what a load of b.s)...
Finding it more and more amusing that a show that is conceptually based on the notion of being able to see through someone elses eyes seems to capture situations exactly the way I see them play out.
Seems to me that the funniest things are the ones we all think we're alone in but in fact are completely unified but no one is talking.
I suppose that is why some of my best writing comes from the most honest moments; the down and outs when you think "God if anyone saw me do that/heard me say that..." seem to have the best laughter potential. Russell Brand's biography is full of them too. The bits and pieces you admit about loving people for personal gain or because you are bored, or loving someone too much and being a total fucking sook about it - they are compelling.
Peep Show is one tirade after another and whilst I'm not exactly in scenarios they get themselves in it seems the most awkward moments - the pauses, the downward looks, the thoughts about something so off-colour and wrong that you know you shouldn't have had them - they are the best parts.
Ahhh, life... why are we all so fucked up? But better yet, why don't we see how great it is?
"I'm in the money... Everything's going to be alright. I am going to be a legend and you and all of this depressing shit will just be a little footnote in the massive biog of how rich and fucked up I eventually became"
